X-Men and Urban Fantasy
I grew up watching the X-Men movies. Although my sexual awakening came from Cheetara on Thundercats,* my budding sense of morality came from X-Men.
X-men asked the viewer to ponder why we are so afraid of people who are different. Does history repeat itself? What happens if power is unchecked? What if the heroes are insanely, unabashedly, hot? (Move aside Marvel, we had Hugh Jackman first.)
Comp Title for X-men:
Faie Wars by K.L. Asmussen.
I’ve read the first two books, and the sixth one was recently released.
This series follows a found family of realistic, not always perfect, heroes in a world much like our own. A world where our differences cause conflict and forces us to confront morality and temptation alike.
*What the hell does this have to do with the comp title? Nothing. I think it’s funny. It’s my website damnit.
